
On Tuesday Venus and Serena Williams both posted comfortable wins to make it to the second round of The US Open 2008.
First up, Serena dispatched the younger of the Bondarenko sisters from the Ukraine, Kateryna 6-1, 6-4. Serena, sporting a new deep red Nike dress and matching headband was happy with her performance and happy to be back in New York.
“At this tournament, I’m feeling great, I’m feeling confident,” Williams told reporters after the match. “I’m enjoying every moment I’m out there.”
Later that evening Venus Williams joined her younger sister in the second round with a straight sets win over Australian veteran Samantha Stosur 6-2, 6-3 and in the second round, will face Rossana de los Rios of Paraguay.
